Pen Pal Day The Second Graders were all very excited when they arrived at Holy Child School at Rosemont to spend the morning with their pen pals. Greeting pen pals with handshakes and hugs. Singing their Communion song for the sisters. Visiting with the sisters: Each student shared his/her written paragraph about First Holy Communion Day.  Chatting with pen pals Community Time During Community Time, the students gathered in their families, signed beach balls, and enjoyed a treat of water ice. Lego Club At Lego Club, Keith and Emmet collaborated in making Spacey Alligators. We all admired their creative work. Sharing Memories Students gathered with a partner or in a small group to look over the 2019 yearbook! It was a great year. Hands On Learning Weaving:    After reading A Goat in the Rug ,  a narrative non-fiction story about a Navajo weaver, the students tried their hands at weaving. They soon became experts with the under over pattern. Six-digit Numbers The students took turns rolling the dice and filling in the blank spaces until they had a six-digit number. Then they each read the number and compared the value of the numbers they wrote.                                                      1  3  9, 0  6  4 Plane Shapes After making models of plane shapes using toothpicks and marshmallows, the students described their shapes by telling the number of sides, vertices, and angles. Japan The Second Graders have begun studying Japan and are learning about the country's geography and culture.
